Homeowners Toolkit 101
You don't need a tool until you really, really need one, so as a new homeowner what should you have in your tool box? We're going to go through the necessities and how to make them last a lifetime.
Quality Over Quantity-
Your main set of tools doesn't need to be very expensive, but they should be ofgood quality. You will use these tools over and over and they can last years if they are good quality. When buying a new tool, especially power tools do some research and read reviews before heading to the store.
Multi Tools-
Tools that have multiple purposes or have several attachments are a great investment. A set of screwdrivers with attachable heads or a multi tool with pliers, knives and a bottle opener are very common and easy to fit in a pocket.
Organization-
Organization is key, especially when it comes to smaller items. Screws nails, nuts and bolts can get lost in a box all together. You don't need expensive toolboxes even, you can even use something like acraft bead organizeror small plastic containers. If you want to go an extra step investing in a label printer is also worth the price. Correct labeling can save time and accidents, plus you can use it for anything in your home!
Maintenance-
Always store your tools in a dry, cool place, often power tools come in solid packaging that you can use to store them long term.Cleaning your toolsevery use is also a necessary step to making sure rust doesn't build and everything stays in good shape. Tools vary, but often a good wipe and clearing of dust will help the longevity. Another important step is lubrication, in the manual for your power tool there should be a lubrication method to insure the quality of your tool over time.
Indoor vs Outdoor-
Should you tools be stored inside or outside?
